A. JOHNSON RHETT, CFP®, CHFC®
Johnson Rhett had an early realization that continues to shape how he serves clients today. Most people don’t necessarily care about how the market is doing, where interest rates are headed, or what economists are predicting. What they really want to know is simple: “am I going to be okay?”
That understanding defines his approach to comprehensive financial planning. It’s not about beating an investment benchmark. It’s about building a clear, thoughtful plan that brings structure to your financial life and gives you confidence in where you’re headed.
At its core, financial planning is more than just the numbers. It’s about creating a sense of long-term stability and helping ensure that short-term market movements don’t dictate your future, especially as you prepare for and move through retirement.
A Path Through People
Before financial planning, Johnson spent years in non-profit campus ministry. This work was almost entirely about building trust, having honest conversations, and walking alongside people through uncertainty. These attributes are, it turns out, exactly the skills that make a great financial planner. This relational approach is evident in the deep, personal care he brings to every client relationship.
Building the Foundation for Retirement
Johnson serves a mix of clients - younger professionals and millennials in the wealth accumulation phase of their financial lives, and pre-retirees who are beginning to think seriously about what retirement income actually looks like.
The thread that connects both groups is simple: the decisions made now determine the options available later.
- For younger clients: Johnson focuses on building the right financial habits, structures, and tax-efficient strategies early enough to allow for meaningful compounding.
- For pre-retirees: He helps shift the focus from "how do I grow this?" to "how do I turn assets into sustainable retirement income?" Johnson specializes in helping clients navigate both phases with a clear, structured financial plan.
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) practitioner and Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), Johnson applies the Safety-First framework and Modern Retirement Theory foundation that anchors Branning Wealth Management’s entire approach. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Mississippi State University.
